This. I love my son he came out when he was 20 as Gay and then told me he was transgender about 3 years later. I support his name change and his pronouns he is FTM. I am ok with the HRT I was not on board with the surgeries at that time. I knew he needed some therapy and the therapist he had was getting kickbacks from doctors for transitioning surgeries so I advised that he find a different one. This did not go over well. I wanted him to be fully informed and working on his mental health because there was trauma a lot of trauma. I do not want him to regret any surgery or changes to his body that he can’t reverse. He decided I wasn’t being supportive and cut me off. I am supportive I just want what is best for my son and I want him to go about it carefully and with as such information he can.

I say this so bloody often! Why can’t I just be a man who is feminine or a woman who is masculine. We’re so obsessed with labels . . . Live and let live would work if we didn’t try and force our beliefs on others, and simply accepted individuals for the individuals they are.

Listen, I haven’t always had an open mind about the transgender community and the reasons are the same things/issues that you speak of. If everyone thought this way, I am sure a lot of people would have a different view on it. love how open, and honest you are and the knowledge that you have and try to help spread.
