🧡Simba🧡 (264143) from Manhattan @Animal Care Centers of NYC https://nycacc.app/browse/264143 Meet Simba.🧡 I got the chance to meet Simba today, and seeing his body in person was heartbreaking. His skin is in very rough condition, with severe irritation, patchy and brittle hair loss across his face and limbs, and visible signs that his body has been through a lot. But Simba? He seems determined not to let any of that steal his joy. He was one happy, wiggly, playful boy. His tail barely stopped wagging. He loved playing with toys, happily sat for treats, and even played tug-of-war with me. He played nicely, stayed engaged, and was completely enjoying the moment. Simba was brought in by Field Rescue on September 1. When he was found, he had numerous visible scars, open and swollen wounds on his face, body, and paws, along with discharge around his eyes. And even then, despite everything he was going through physically, Simba was reported to be extremely friendly and approachable. He was easy to leash and greeted his rescuers with lots of tail wags. Since arriving at the care center, Simba has also shown signs of fear and stress during some handling. When he feels afraid or overwhelmed, he can become defensive, and he has had moments where he struggles to regulate his excitement and arousal. I don’t know how long Simba went without the care he needed, or what his life looked like before he got here. But today, I was so relieved to see that his spirit hasn’t been broken. He was bright, playful, curious, and so full of life. Simba hasn’t given up. And we’re not giving up on him either. 🧡 He needs a rescue placement where he can continue healing and finally receive the care he deserves. He's available only through ACC's New Hope partners.
