Same thing happened to me but the oil eventually started to affect my eye sooooo he took out oil and put in a gas bubble 🫠 but as of right now so far I'm good after all of the surgeries. Just had 2 cataract surgeries healing and praying I'm done with it all!

On September 17,, I had my 14th retinal surgery, and I had a amniotic membrane put in my left eye with a gas long-term gas bubble. It’s been seven weeks, and it’s only down to 50%. I have very little vision in my right eye, and at my check up today, he said, when I come back in two weeks, we will talk about what we’re gonna do to the right eye because it has built up a lot of scarred issues, so maybe remove the scarred tissue and put silicon oil back in. Does it ever end? Let’s just say prayers we both wake up healed!! Good luck with your surgery. I can’t believe my gas bubble is still at 50%. at seven weeks post-op. He said it’s because of the surgery’s gas bubble dissipates slower, which I guess is good because it’s holding everything in place. He says the left eye looks fantastic, so we shall see. Prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery for you

you can see through the gas bubble too, so it won't be totally useless during that Time time. you just can't fly with the gas bubble.
I just had the silicone oil removed, currently have an air bubble that will last about a week. the big adjustment was that the oil was magnifying so now I feel extra blind

My left eye photo receptors are screwed as well. My retina is swelling and causing the problem.

Have you ever asked the witness specialist to put a buckle that’s underneath your eye to hold the lift instead of your silicone bubble cause that’s what helped me with my eye detachment. I have a buckle under my eye to give that lift.

I’m having surgery number 3 next week. Doctor told me if this doesn’t work then he isn’t going to torture me again with another surgery. I’ve already gotten used to being blind in that eye 😔

I’m going through the same thing. I had my first retinal detachment surgery on my left eye back in May 2026. Unfortunately, scar tissue is pulling on my retina, causing it to detach again. I’ll be having my second surgery on November 10. My surgeon will try to remove the scar tissue and repair my retina, but they’re still not sure whether they’ll use silicone oil again or a gas bubble to help keep it attached. I’m nervous and scared, but I’m staying strong and praying everything goes well this time.

you are a trooper girl! Sending love and courage your way! You put up a tough front, but that is some scary shit right there! Looking through a Funhouse mirror while the other eye is unusable is scary stuff. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you that everything turns ok! I wish all of our retinas could get their shit together lol
