What’s this lady talking about. A Learjet can fly higher than commercial airlines can. Most of are designed and certified to cruise at 50,000 feet..

They can easily fly up to 50,000 feet. WTH is this last talking about. 37,000 is not the problem.

Jeff saw Denzel Washington climb like that in the movie "Flight", but Denzel was in a much larger airplane.

Lear 60 typically cruise at 41-43k. I worked for a charter operator with a fleet of Lear 60s. Puddle jumper? Don’t listen to these people!

I think from now on air traffic control should make the call whether commercial planes with passengers could operate or not in regards to bad weather. There's been one too many plane crashes due to bad weather.
In this case, if that flight was cancelled everybody would still be alive.

They can fly at 41,000 on a learjet and if there was a plane at 37,000 atc would not have gave them permission to climb

They had to try and go up. They just started to see water accumulation which shouldn’t have happened at that altitude, but it did. They already had icing and now introducing water is not good, means more and worse icing. Their only option was up

It was said they flew most of the way to Florida at 41… so 37 shouldn’t have been an issue, it was the weather that impacted it

They weren’t too high for that jet rating at all. Non issue. Very unusual to have icing at that altitude. Definitely should have gone around the storm not attempt to go over.

Wouldn't it'd have been better to drop below the icing level ? As soon as they tried to climb is when all hell broke loose ! A good point is they never should've been in that location in the air, they should've been redirected out of range of the storm.

Then expert lady tell me why the FAA certifies the Lear 60 jet to 51,000 feet high ? The jet was cruising at 41,000 over the gulf before Florida. Also yes I would be flying that day…geez
