KaySika :
Your analysis is laudable, however, flying to China just to import 500 pairs of shoes is already a poor business decision when you could order the same goods from Ghana and avoid most of the costs you listed.
And if the trip is genuinely for sourcing, no SERIOUS importer is going all that way for just one batch of 500 shoes. Of course, there may be situations where a business owner needs to travel personally for a custom order, quality inspection, to meet a supplier, etc. But if you are already making that trip, good business strategy would be to maximize it by sourcing other products, meeting more suppliers, negotiating future orders or handling other business activities. That way, your visa, ticket, hotel and transportation costs are spread across the overall value generated from the trip rather than loaded entirely onto just 500 pairs of shoes.
So adding the entire cost of the trip to only 500 shoes creates an inflated example from the start, and I don’t think anyone who truly understands business would embark on such a trip for just 500 pairs of shoes.
However, if people genuinely do business exactly the way you have described, then yes, your analysis would be correct but again, that's such a poor business decision.
