@plush.sheepnews: Jeff Probst Reveals the Survivor Food Players First See Is Not Always the Food They Get Survivor fans may have a new look at what happens behind the scenes. In his Field Notes social media series, host and showrunner Jeff Probst explained how the show handles reward food. He says the team works hard to make sure food that players earn is fresh and, when appropriate, hot. “Outside of trust, food is the most important thing in the game,” he wrote. Here is the catch. If Probst shows a food reward before a challenge, it is not the same food the winners eat. “We prepare a completely fresh reward timed to the players arriving wherever the food reward is taking place,” he said. That can mean making the food on site. It can also mean packing it in containers and delivering it by boat. For Applebee’s rewards, he says an official Applebee’s chef is on location to oversee the making and delivery. This week’s Survivor 51 episode had a merge feast. But first, players had to eat grubs. There were 13 players and 26 grubs, and only the first ten would move on. Probst said filming was simple, but hosting was chaotic. “I’m running back and forth checking for grub remnants in their mouths!” he wrote. As for where the grubs come from, he kept it vague. He says the show has “a very good supplier” and that the team looks after the grubs so they stay healthy. Would you be able to eat the grubs to win the feast? #gameshow #survivor #jeffprobst #new w #CBS
