@moneymeetsmedicine: Residents: don’t skip getting help to stay insurable 🩺 I hear this from trainees all the time: “I’ll see someone after I get my disability insurance.” Please don’t do that. Every resident in the country now has a GSI available to them. But only a select number of agencies have access. The order of operations after you know which GSI you have: Apply fully underwritten with the same company that offers the GSI If you get an adverse decision, “fall back” on the GSI from the same company. Then get life insurance, if you have someone dependent on your income. Apply with the wrong company and get denied? You’re now likely uninsurable. This is what happened to me.
