@talkinbaseball_: A salary cap and floor would massively affect teams that are currently over or under what’s being proposed #baseball #MLB #sports #salary #cap
Just stick with a floor for now and see how it goes. Besides the much bigger problem is owners actively choosing to not spend money

It shouldn’t be an overnight thing, that’s unrealistic. There should be a time period where the cap gradually lowers and same with the floor. Am i saying take a decade? No, but i think 3-5 years is reasonable.

the owners haven't even agreed amongst themselves what the actual cap and bottom would be. the top 10 spending teams don't want a cap. the bottom 15 don't want a floor. so like 5 teams actually want the proposed system.

A year is not even remotely realistic and not even done in good faith. They’re trying to bait the union into even entertaining the idea of a cap.

I know people don't want to address this but a salary cap and floor helps a significant amount more players than it hurts

Have it be a soft cap. Like in basketball. Say it’s 250 with a luxury tax line of 275 and maybe a second one at 300. When you get to 250, you can’t sign outside players but you can extend your own guys however much you want. You’ll just have to pay the tax for however much you want to exceed the tax lines. So the Dodgers can keep their current players, they just can’t keep signing free agents ad infinitum. They’ll need to promote from within their organization and whenever they make trades they need to make the salaries match between the players they take in and the players that they’re moving. Either that or take in less money than what they’re trading away

Sorry but the teams that would be over the cap would just have to cut players

That is why the players won’t accept it because in teams have to trade players because of the salary cap the free agents won’t be able to get pay the way they want.

They want to push it to 2028 They need a high market team like Dodgers. Mets. Yankees to win so they can use that as leverage. Brewers and Rays ruined it for them

This is where all the media and the fans start. sucking off the owners until they get a chance to cheer for the players! If the players played for free ticket prices wouldn’t go down a penny!
