Shouldn’t have let McCabe and Mead go to our biggest rivals in the same season, and fail to see how that would affect us. Renee and her experimentation with out of position players has overrun its course. But she fails to cede that point.

Absolutely right, the players are there, the structure is wrong, players are not being played in their positions and a pattern of play doesn’t exist. Russo should be No.9, smith and Kelly or holmberg wide, caldentey, Stanway and foord making up 3 person midfield, you then have the likes of stina, maanum, little, coney cross, Baum who can come in. Defence flat back 4 with full backs who can and overlap as we have Williamson who can come forward into midfield when we have the ball and pass with protection of likes of fox, wubben moy, catley and hinds (whoever you use) but used in their right positions. The issue for arsenal hasn’t been creativity it’s been chance conversion and a lack of structure especially out of position making it easy to play through. Another more defensively minded cm would be good to have as an option with some legs to help break play up in front of the defence like Stanway and then turn the ball over. We have the players, have the creativity but addressing the issue of the lack of finishing when on top and defensive structure front to back is key.

In my opinion the thing that’s missing IS Katie McCabe. A proper defensive minded player with a level of grit and tenacity that other players also feed off of. The biggest thing Arsenal is missing this season IS tenacity. What does our rival Chelsea how possess? Pure tenacity. It’s easy to spot the common factor between those two things is McCabe. Is McCabe the best LB in the world? No, but she’s sure as hell close. Her leadership (which is often overlooked due to her passion which shows on field) which i think is mainly behind the scenes was clearly overlooked by Arsenal staff. I mean who even remotely has that same level of grit?
