@oc_aviary: Meet the newest arrivals! 🐦🇬🇧 I’ve recently welcomed eight Grey Partridges (also known as English Partridges), one of Britain’s most threatened farmland birds. Despite being relatively common in captivity, thanks to generations of breeding by gamekeepers; wild populations have declined by over 90% since the 1960s. I’ve got two males and six females, which will have the opportunity to naturally form breeding pairs next spring. I’m really looking forward to working with another Red-listed British species, developing my experience with these beautiful birds and hopefully contributing to their conservation in the future! #GreyPartridge #BirdConservation #Aviary #Aviculture #Partridge

Phil halsey :

if it wasnt for the gamekeepers they would of all disappeared in the 62. 63 winter i know a few keepers now that still put a few down with the French red legs and are not shot at if the guns shoot a grey by mistake there is a fine paid into a charity of the keepers choice . its nice to see them in the wild again .
