@murtazaviews: British comedian and actor Russell Brand, who dated Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of Pakistan’s ex-prime minister Imran Khan, has been found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault following a high-profile trial at Southwark Crown Court in London. The 51-year-old celebrity, who faced seven charges in total, was convicted over allegations made by six women. He was acquitted of two other rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault. Brand was immediately remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on Monday, November 9. Judge Joel Bennathan told the court that Brand would receive a prison sentence, although its length has not yet been determined. Brand also had a high-profile relationship with Jemima Goldsmith, who was previously married to Imran Khan and is the mother of his two sons, Sulaiman and Kasim. Brand and Jemima began dating around September 2013 and reportedly a year later in September 2014. All four offences for which Brand has now been convicted occurred several years before his relationship with Jemima Goldsmith. The offences for which Brand was convicted took place between 2004 and 2009, during his rise to fame as a television presenter, comedian and actor. The rape conviction relates to a woman he met after a comedy performance in 2009, while the three sexual assault convictions concern incidents involving women working in the media and entertainment industry. Brand denied all the allegations throughout the trial, maintaining that his sexual encounters had been consensual. Brand was previously married to American singer Katy Perry and is currently married to Laura Gallacher, with whom he has three children.
