homemade apple pie pop tarts 🍎🍁 recipe below! for the pastry: 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tbsp granulated sugar 1 tsp salt 1 cup cold butter, cubed 6-8 tbsp ice water 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash) for the apple pie filling: 2 medium honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced 2 tbsp butter 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp allspice 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp cornstarch pinch of salt for the maple glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar 2 tbsp maple syrup 1-2 tsp milk 1/2 tsp vanilla extract pinch of cinnamon in a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. cut in the cold butter until pea sized pieces remain. gradually add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, until the dough comes together. divide into 2 discs, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, lemon juice, and salt. cook for 6-8 minutes until softened. mix the cornstarch with 1 tbsp cold water, stir into the apples, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until thickened. let cool completely. preheat oven to 375. roll each dough disc to about 1/8” thickness and cut into rectangles. place on a parchment lined baking sheet. add apple filling to each, leaving a border. brush the edges with egg wash, top with the remaining pastry rectangles, and seal with a fork. poke a few holes in the tops. brush with egg wash and bake for 22-27 minutes, until golden brown. let cool completely. whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and enough milk to make a thick glaze. spread over the cooled pop tarts and let set before enjoying! #homemadepoptarts #fallbaking #cozyvibes #baking #EasyRecipe
