October has come to an end and it’s time for our beloved pumpkin house to come down! after about 4,000 pieces of candy, more than that many visitors, 20 million views and hundreds of AI allegations, I hope most of all that it brought you some classic nostalgic childlike Halloween joy and fun. A candy bowl, music playing over the speakers, and flickering lights on a cold October evening. Chatting with visitors is the highlight of the season for us— we had people visiting from Australia and England this year! I love seeing all ages of people admiring the magic! if you haven’t seen it in person, it really is a spectacle all lit up. The most asked question in the comments is “where do you store it all?!” the pumpkin house is impressive — but it breaks down surprisingly manageable! As no surprise to anyone, an old historical house is greatly lacking in the storage options so we are creative and scrappy and where there is a will there is a way! we donate all the large pumpkins for feed for large animals. we put all the carved pumpkins into very large bags and hang them from hooks in the ceiling of our very tiny storage space. so they’re up out of the way and taking ceiling space that couldn’t be used for much else. the pumpkin stacks are like nesting dolls and stack inside each other so we have two very large boxes. and then the lights and candles all fit into one bin! so some very massive bags, two giant boxes, and a bin. that’s it! the pumpkin house was so much fun this year! we were featured in better homes and gardens magazine and it was such an honor to see the house in print! we love this house! we love you guys! I don’t know how I ended up on the nicest side of the Internet but I am always emotional about how wonderfully supportive and kind you are to me and my family. thank you for giving me a place to create and share my soul with you. here’s goodnight on another year of the pumpkin house—thanks for being here!! and stick around —because Christmas bells are starting to ring!
