@michaeltothemax: The Relief Phase Trap: Why Your Ex Seems Fine While You're Falling Apart Conversational monologue | Approximately 3 minutes You know what makes a breakup even more painful? When you're absolutely devastated, struggling to get through the day, and the person who walked away seems to be doing just fine. They're going out with friends. They're posting pictures. They're laughing. They're living their life. And you're sitting there wondering how somebody who supposedly loved you can act like losing you doesn't bother them at all. Well, there's something I want you to understand about this, because it may explain some of what you're seeing. You may be experiencing the grief of the breakup while they're experiencing the relief of leaving. And those are two very different emotional experiences. See, for some people, the breakup didn't begin on the day they walked away. It began weeks, sometimes months, before they actually ended the relationship. They were already questioning things. They were already imagining life without you. They may have been emotionally distancing themselves while you were still trying to figure out how to make the relationship work. And by the time they finally walked away, they may have felt an enormous sense of relief. The uncertainty was over. The difficult decision had been made. They no longer had to wrestle with whether to stay or leave. Meanwhile, you're just beginning to process something they may have been thinking about for months. And THAT'S why the emotional difference can be so devastating. You're looking for signs that they miss you. You're wondering why they haven't called. You're checking their social media, trying to figure out how they can possibly be so happy when you're hurting so badly. But listen carefully. Their relief is not necessarily evidence that you meant nothing to them. And their silence doesn't automatically mean they never loved you. Sometimes relief simply means they're no longer dealing with the internal conflict that preceded their decision. Now, here's where people get themselves into trouble. They assume that because their ex appears happy today, they're going to be happy forever. Or they go in the opposite direction and convince themselves that eventually the relief will wear off, the grief will hit, and their ex will come running back. And I want to caution you about BOTH of those assumptions. Because neither one is something you can know. Some people experience delayed sadness or regret. Others grieve before leaving and never reconsider their decision. And some experience relief and sadness at the same time. Human emotions are complicated. They don't operate on some predictable breakup calendar. And here's what I really want you to take away from this. You cannot build your recovery around waiting for somebody else's relief to turn into regret. Because while you're sitting there hoping they'll eventually feel the pain you're feeling, you're allowing their emotional experience to determine what happens with YOUR life. And that's a terrible place to put yourself. Let them experience whatever they're going to experience. You have something far more important to do. You have to deal with what's happening inside YOU. You have to grieve. You have to rebuild. You have to learn how to live without constantly measuring your progress against somebody who chose a different direction. And if their relief eventually turns into regret? Well, that's something they'll have to deal with. But don't spend the next six months of your life waiting for that moment. Because your healing doesn't begin when they finally miss you. It begins when you stop needing them to. #healing #breakup #selfrespect

Funny that I just hit mearly 6 months. And Ik it's crazy/dumb....But I've been feeling the same level of hurt and missing them as day one. They're still the first and last thought in my head every day...I may not cry everyday anymore, but it is still most days....They dropped me out of nowhere without giving me a chance to work on myself. (And the day after saying they weren't going anywhere/I was stuck with them, so that's fun ^^; )....But anyway, ty for this, I think it maybe helped a little.

Had to learn since my presence didn't mean much to them, then my absence doesn't matter either.

Men come back when the connection was deep and you gave them warmth. They can't forget that.
