Simple solution: have the confwrence scheduled during the work week like a normal company would do, if it has to be mandatory. Cheaper costs for lodging and the venue.

So many people are missing the point. No one is saying you have to accept this from an employer if you’re a mum. You have free will you can choose what job you do and what contract you sign. The point of these videos is that child free people should have to “take one for the team” because they work with parents.

My favorite version of this was a parent saying I should do there Christmas shift as they have children. My boss pointed out I also volunteer for a homeless charity and so wouldn’t be free for Christmas as I’d also requested the day off to work in the kitchen, and was even willing to use PTO to have the day off.

I’m having to pay extra now for the someone to watch and care for my mom for the one day a week we need to be in the office. Everyone’s complaining about childcare and how expensive it is. Really, how much? Oh I have to pay $500 more a month for my kids. Oh, sorry I have to pay $800 more A WEEK for my mom! At this point I feel like I’m about to pay them for having a job.

I don't understand why the parents can't miss 1 event from their childs, is just 1 weekend, your husband/wife can go with them or you can pay someone to do it, when I was a child sometimes my parents couldn't go to a school event and I always understood that it was for work, they just explained to me from the beginning, is not that the work is more important than me, but sometimes there are things that they can't miss because is important, when my dad can't, I went with my mom, and when my mom can't, I went with my dad, and at the end we just see the recording of the event or something like that
