@rabbi.noah18: What should you look for in a life partner? According to Jewish wisdom, above all, there is one Hebrew word, one trait you need to find: חֶסֶד, Chesed, loving kindness. Yes, there needs to be attraction and value alignment, and may Hashem enlighten your soul to see what is in front of you. But chesed comes first. We learn it from Avraham, when his servant Eliezer was seeking a wife for Yitzchak to continue the covenant. He looked for a woman who would give water not only to him but to his animals, a woman with a vision of care, love and devotion to goodness. אִשָּׁה יִרְאַת ה׳ הִיא תִתְהַלָּל A woman who fears the Creator, she should be praised. (Mishlei 31:30) Men, look into the heart of that person and ask yourself, is chesed on her tongue, on her soul, on her words, on her being? וְתוֹרַת חֶסֶד עַל לְשׁוֹנָהּ Loving kindness on her tongue.
