@reignnews: A 12-year-old girl is recovering after being caught in gunfire near The Pearly Gates park in the Bronx’s Westchester Square neighborhood last month. The child suffered gunshot wounds to her torso and right foot. A good Samaritan helped get her to a hospital, and she is expected to recover physically. Police arrested 26-year-old Destin Burgess in connection with the shooting. Updated reporting says a 13-year-old boy has also been arrested. Authorities are still searching for two others, including the suspected gunman. Burgess faces attempted murder and other charges. Neither arrested suspect is accused of personally firing the shots, according to the latest reporting. A child should be able to meet a friend or visit a neighborhood park without becoming a victim of gun violence. Her physical recovery matters, and so does the emotional impact of surviving something this frightening. Please keep this young girl and her family in your thoughts. Anyone with information can contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. #Bronx #WestchesterSquare #ProtectOurChildren #EndGunViolence #crimejunkie
