@clarasmommy1: Starting solids comes with enough things to Google at midnight. Let’s make a few of them less confusing. Around 6 months, small sips of water from a cup can join meals. Breast milk or formula stays the main drink. Baby doesn’t have to finish two ounces, and water isn’t a guaranteed constipation fix. For first foods, pick textures and shapes baby can manage. Bigger isn’t always safer. Keep them upright and supervised, and offer iron-rich foods without dropping fruit from the menu. Turning 6 months doesn’t automatically mean their iron is low. Gagging vs choking is worth learning before you need it. Noise alone isn’t a reliable test. If baby can’t breathe, cry or cough strongly, call emergency services immediately and follow the dispatcher. Repeated coughing or distress at meals needs medical advice. Introducing allergens also needs a little context. The roughly 80% reduction comes from peanut research, not every allergen. Three tastes don’t guarantee safety. Start once baby is ready for solids, with a clinician’s plan if there’s eczema, an existing allergy or a past reaction. You can keep meals simple and still take the important bits seriously. #startingsolids #babysafety #allergens #babynutrition #6monthold
