I always see a dr. BUT, my SIL is a doctor & when the ACA (Obamacare) passed she was angry because the legislation basically forced practices to utilize NP’s with only one doctor who oversaw them. So, blame Obamacare. Now she has a “ concierge” practice. She charges a flat fee every month-does not take ins-and that is for just regular primary care. She can diagnose & give prescriptions. She can also give referrals, and she has no limit on how many times you come see her.

I have a doctor that I've seen for almost 20 years. I also started seeing a nurse practitioner about a year and half ago because he thinks outside the box. I still see my original doctor, too

I don't have health insurance right now, and saw my ACTUAL DOCTOR 2 weeks ago. it was $185. I used to pay $435 a month for health insurance that was so bad, after 18 months I still couldn't find a doctor that took it (other than urgent care facilities). however, I was able to see physicians assistants or nurse practitioners at a local Henry Ford office. now that I no longer work myself ragged to pay for garbage health insurance, I can see a doctor whenever I want, and it costs me less than the insurance did.
