Married At First Sight UK Is Canceled After A Review Of “Welfare Protocols” Following Serious Allegations Channel 4 has canceled Married at First Sight UK after 10 seasons. The network confirmed the news on Thursday, Nov. 5. It came after an external investigation into the show. The review followed “serious allegations of wrongdoing against a small number of past contributors.” Those people have denied the allegations. The allegations came from a BBC documentary that aired in May. In it, two former contestants claimed they were Rped by their husbands while filming. A third woman claimed she experienced a non-consensual Seual act. In July, a male cast member was arrested on suspicion of R*pe, according to BBC News. The review had two parts. Law firm Clyde & Co found that the welfare protocols were “compliant with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code.” A second review by Lorraine Heggessey said it would be reasonable to continue the show with changes. Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra said the review made no findings that Channel 4 breached the Ofcom Code. It also made no finding that the format is “inherently unsafe.” But she said, “I have to consider when is the right time for Channel 4 to move on from a format.” She said the show has “now run its course.” Dogra said the review could not rule on the allegations. She said she is “very sorry for the distress those women have clearly felt.” The show’s budget will be “reinvested in distinctive new programming.” All seasons were pulled from streaming in May.
