@c5news: Following Russell Brand’s guilty verdict today, his former partner and friend Georgina Baillie says she is sad to have misjudged his character and deeply sympathises with his victims. Speaking exclusively to 5 News, the artist and actress urged him to “tell the truth” and admit his mistakes to the women he abused. Her comments follow the verdict at Southwark Crown Court, which found the presenter guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. Expressing the anger she now feels towards him, Georgina Baillie said: “The most important thing is to admit your mistakes and correct them as much as you can. Now if they've proven that he's done these things… that's what needs to happen. He needs to make amends.” Baillie also admitted feeling embarrassed at having misjudged her former friend: “I'm really sad that he's been found guilty because I really thought that, like, I had a better judge of character than this. “But you know, I am open-minded enough to know that I can be wrong. I'm okay with being wrong… I feel a lot of sympathy for the accusers and the victims. It's been proven, hasn't it? So yeah, I just, I really hope that they can find some healing.” The jury cleared Brand of two further counts of rape and one charge of attempted indecent assault. He had pleaded not guilty to all seven charges. #russellbrand
