I’m lucky enough to be able to skip lunch and leave after 8 hours of being there. I don’t understand why that can’t be the case for everyone. They pay you for 8, so you should be able to leave after 8.

If you’re saying you don’t need an hours break, that’s a dangerous thing to say.

Because it’s a ‘break’ from work. Because no one should work 8 hours without a break, it’s unhealthy and dangerous. And also, are you saying you won’t eat all day?

You get an hr. I get 30 min. Some days. Most I get none. Work through lunch and just leave early.

It’s a DoL law that you have to take a lunch break in the first 5 hours of the day. Nothing to do with the employer other than making sure they aren’t

by law, among other rules, if you work over 6h in one go the minimum 20min. break is mandatory.
It can not be taken at the very start or the very end of the day and employer can decide when exactly you may take it.
So, employers cant let you do this otherwise they will get in serious trouble. That is why it is an issue.

As long as you clock out at finishing time, it won't be an issue. 😂
