Mixed person here. You can’t just say, “here’s the definition, I don’t agree with it though”. Of course white peoples CAN experience racism, but they don’t suffer SYSTEMIC oppression. There’s a reason that’s a whole separate definition. You’re quite literally explaining in this video how they can experience racism but just saying you dont like using that word. For example, when you see certain videos saying TWD what would you call that aside from racism?

Racial hierarchy and ideology didn’t ingrain itself; it created our reality today. If we go off of Althusser’s theory of material ideology, we could say that racial ideology created the reality of racism and other things like that, and the reality that was created reinforced the hierarchy. prejudice quite literally is racism and racism is not systemic. there are things like micro aggressions, casual racism, all that whcih can be fully vocal. and yes most vocal racist remarks are based on assumptions people make due to system unfairness like assuming a black person is poor and calling them that, thats an example of casual racism that wouldnt have been possible without systemic indifferences. however. you can still say unprompted things about race that have nothing to do with anything systemic at all. i personally am from an indeginous culture in new zealand called maori, and we were colonised by british settlers and out language was ruthlessly beaten out of us. last year i joined a class at highschool that was a full maori immersion class to reteach maori to kids who needed it. a fully white, fully european boy decided to join because he rightfully thought "if im living in this country, i should learn its language", it was a truly heroic and amazing decision to make. and yet not even halfway through the year he was considering leaving because kids and teachers ruthlessly mocked him, called him a coloniser, and that he didnt belong there. its one thing to be weary and cautious due to systemic indifferences and previous racist moments you have encountered against you, btu the kids in this class werent doing that, they were shown by the kid time and time again that hes a good kid and just wants to learn the language and yet the assumptions and mockery never stopped, all because he was white. saying white people cant experience racism is just wrong
