@farmingwithwalt: A Final Word Before Election Day I've shared my thoughts on the challenges facing New Zealand, the economic decisions of recent years, and why our rural communities deserve a stronger voice. We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it. And we must never lose sight of the contribution our farmers, growers, businesses and rural families make to this country. As we head to the polls, I encourage everyone to consider both their electorate vote and their party vote carefully. I've made my own position clear. I believe Robert Cookson would be a strong representative for Waikato, and he has my endorsement. Whatever your political preference, please get out and vote. Our democracy matters. Our rural communities matter. And so does our future.

Yes it is Walt, and that’s the problem that’s neutering us. I’m not knocking farming or agriculture at all. I am saying that we need other things that will contribute as much or more to our GDP. What and how? That’s beyond my intelligence?

And don’t forget the extraordinary level of division that we’ve seen in the last 3 years, plus record levels of poverty and unemployment, a health system that has been broken through a hiring freeze and shifting of funding to the private sector, as well as a catastrophic level of unnecessary restructuring in our schools. Just saying, you missed a few bits.

all those people do the hard yards and they get paid really well for those yards so no one does anything for free. talking about the past lets talk about confiscated or stolen maori land and lets talk about the maori that got ripped off, so those farmers etc get free land to get rich.

A cycle of political parties in NZ , Labour spend spend spend to stay in , 2 terms = 3 terms required for National bring the books right ( I’m 65 it’s the circle of life ) and when times are hard the country lives off the back of farming
