Lifelong Texan and Democrat here. Anecdotally, the things that were swing issues for Republicans in this most recent election: 1. The full throated gutting of public school schools by Greg Abbott, 2. The extremely visible support of data centers in Texas by Greg Abbott. 3. Gas prices — it will be interesting to see how subsequent polling bears out, but the machismo culture of immigrant communities still seems to pull towards Donald Trump. I have worked as a volunteer with immigrants rights organization since 2016 and anecdotally have really not seen much more care or compassion for undocumented people despite the literal war crimes that ICE is committing, even by others in the Hispanic and Latino communities.
