There was no official UK registered charity and the money she collected was able to be transferred into her own personal accounts from gofundme which, if she wanted to, be used for a conveyancing transaction. Yes there are anti money laundering rules but are you telling me that there aren’t mortgage brokers who are not able to dupe lenders in to getting a mortgage or providing alternative sources of cash to not disclose its charity money?

We need every local mosque to start addressing the issue of riba in mortgages. I have never once heard a mosque speak about this topic, yet it is something that affects so many Muslims and deserves much more attention. It is important that we raise awareness, educate our communities and create opportunities for people to better understand what riba is, its implications in Islam, and the alternatives available. This is a conversation our mosques need to start having.
