@suzeallison.unbothered: Where did your retirement mojo go? Maybe you retired full of excitement and plans, like I did. Then you didn’t do any of the plans. You didn’t even feel like trying. You wondered if it was laziness. It’s not. You were incredibly productive for decades. Now that you can finally slow down… your body and mind need to rest. Deeply. #retirement #over50 #midlifehealth #midlife #retirementrot
I have been meaning to say thank you so much for making it okay to seriously chill in retirement. I am a few years away from retirement and have been dreading feeling like there is no purpose anymore. I’m married but don’t have kids, so it’s not even like I have grandkids to look forward to. You have made retirement rotting feel just fine and helped me get over this mental hurdle.

I agree. After I retired from an executive position I didn’t realize how burnt out I was. I thought I’d fully recover after 3 months. Here I am at year two and still not recovered yet.

I love that I can nap whenever I feel like and not feel the least bit of guilt. Was busy busy the first year and these last 6 months have just been a procrastinator/napper. So many times over the last 40 years I prayed for these kind of days - still not feeling the guilt though but I do need to get on some kind of routine

After 37 years of teaching, it took me almost an entire year before I was actually present in my own life. Thank you for your page and your posts. Many of us need to hear that we’re okay!!😎

The decompression from work related stresses is real and long term. I felt related for a couple weeks after retirement and then bone numbing exhaustion. Two years on I'm just starting to feel refreshed.

Omg, I needed to hear this & read all these comments!! I’m 2 weeks shy of a year since I retired. I moved to a condo prior to retiring & still haven’t completely unpacked. I spent this week on the couch & oversleeping. Part is that last week I was getting by on 3-4 hours of sleep a night, but after working for 36 1/2 years, I’m fucking tired!!

I relate to this so much! I feel absolutely depleted, 💯. Raising two kids for 26 years has left me with nothing in the tank. I do like 1 task a day and I’m done. I can not get enough of resting. Add in 10 years of menopause including frozen shoulder and hip tendonitis. I do not want to do much of anything. My body needs to heal. For a long time
