@theargentgroup: A new solar farm planned for Paxton, Illinois, will generate electricity while allowing farmers to continue growing and harvesting hay on the same land. The project, developed by Lightstar Renewables, will have a planned capacity of 4.95 megawatts and cover about 30 acres of a 35-acre site. The solar panels will stand up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) high, leaving enough space for farm equipment to move underneath and collect hay. Special tracking systems will also move the panels to follow the sun. The project is expected to offer local households and businesses around 10% savings on electricity bills through a community solar program. Paxton's City Council approved the project agreement on November 3, 2026. However, construction and electricity production have not yet begun.
