"Lower costs, make your government work for you, clean up the corruption." Sen. Schumer said Democrats would pursue their agenda with or without Republican support, warning that Republicans could face an even greater backlash from voters if they obstruct legislation or President Trump vetoes it. "If Donald Trump does spend the next year vetoing commonsense legislation to lower costs and end corruption, this election, this absolute Republican catastrophe on election night 2026, will look like a good day compared to what will come down on Republicans in the 2028 election," he warned. The Senate leader said Democrats would focus on affordability, seek to end the Iran war, reverse the president's tariffs, and ban stock trading by members of Congress and the administration.
