Recovery becomes difficult when temporary conditions are treated as ownership of the future. An unwanted moment does not inherit authority over the future. The event becomes larger than the person experiencing it. Possibility contracts around one moment. The desired future is treated as cancelled. Separate what happened from what it means. Recovery becomes cleaner when the next response is chosen before fear writes the interpretation. I separate these situations into three parts: the version of you who keeps the future larger than the event, the temporary condition, and the next response that protects the future.
