Thank you! I feel validated by this review. I felt the same way! I don’t think the ending was that great. In fact, I found Parker was a bit mean toward the end and she forgave him WAY too easily, it didn’t seem like her at all.

My biggest frustration, about 50–75 pages in, was that the main characters seemed so disconnected from their cultural backgrounds that their identities felt almost incidental to the story. I found myself wishing their cultural experiences had been more meaningfully reflected in how they thought, interacted, and navigated the world.

yes 👏🏻👏🏻 The MMC was insufferable and whiny for so much of the book and then he finally gets a little better just in time for a 3rd act breakup?!? I was also so disappointed. 💔 A lot of his writing snippets that were supposed to be "good" or "insightful" interview statements just made me like him even less.

Agree that her character went flat. Also felt like boy was being a baby cry about her review the whole book when he knew she was the only one who understood what he was trying to portray. Also he did not take accountability or apologize for the group chat. I felt like they got together way too quickly after the conflict and somehow SHE was the one apologizing to him and then his even to his bff. I liked Seline’s character from the beginning, hate that they took shots at it in the book and then tried to dampen it at the end.

omg finally 😭😭😭 i thought this book was so…. mid. I did not like parker at all and it felt like Selina lost her spark the more the book progressed. It felt like she was the one changing for him when homegirl didn’t even do anything wrong in the first place. And the romance was the worst part of it all. It felt like they went from enemies to lovers without any progression. The best part of a slow burn is seeing them slowly start to fall for each other in the midst of them hating each other and we just.. didn’t get that.
