I will never understand why the pilot went straight into that storm cloud 🥺

Other large plane , delta and American diverted from that thunderstorm, why Learjet didn’t divert , is it saving time or fuel

What if they fell in the ocean? Is it possible that they are going to survive?

It’s seeming more and more like the main pilot made a fatal decision. “Get there-itis” 😞

It was not moderate turbulence if they were bouncing 500 to 600 feet. The crew wasn't being honest if they said it was moderate.

So pilot fault because he said it was moderate but it wasn’t? I always wonder why they don’t say exactly what it is they’re experiencing so they can get accurate help? Could this been prevented?

I think the word "moderate" killed them ...they had a previous flight where they mitaken moderate with sever but they where corrected by the ATC not to climb in alt

what we'll probably never know is why the pilots decided to go through a thunderstorm instead of going around like it's recommended... it was that decision that led to all the rest

if only someone paid attention to the warning earlier I don't think they would have crashed... It was very devastating that it happened.. Deepest condolences to the families of the lives that were lost..😭

So this man basically continuously gambled with the lives of people, and eventually took away the lives of 8, including himself.

When they are 200 persons an board I understand you can’t provide parachutes. But for 9 people, I’m just saying, wouldn’t be an option to jump before?

Man these were some nasty storms that day. I just don’t think they knew about the one that ultimately brought them down. But that turbulence at the end was severe, not moderate. And ice at that altitude is a red flag.

The exact same plane experienced the exact same issues in May 2026. No confirmation as of yet whether if it was the exact same crew.

Aero engineering perspective: At that altitude, the coffin corner is razor-thin. When it stalled, they hit severe overspeed in the dive. If the pilot panicked and yanked the yoke too hard to recover instead of deploying speed brakes to manage the speed and ease the angle of attack, the extreme G-loads and dynamic pressure would easily tear the elevator (or some other parts) right off.

No comment on the specifics but there is a school of thought that says that it takes a minimum of 10,000 in aircraft flight hours to experience enough risks/events to be able to process all the curved balls by rapid evaluation.
