I think there’s some poetry in snow putting so many rebels into one game and not expecting them to start a rebellion. They had NOTHING left to lose

Haymitch was reaped on purpose because they knew that Peeta would volunteer, both tried to defy Snow, Katniss was the face of the rebellion and the only victor, Beetee and Wiress helped to try to destroy the 50th hunger games arena, Mags helped as well, Finnick was reaped because he knew to much and was a problem to Snow and if he won they would have used Annie against him, Joahnna was rebellious and the only female winner in 7th, Cashmere and Gloss were problematic victors and probably knew too much as well, Enobaria and Brutus were there to kill the "weak ones" but Snow knew that they would die, and the drug addicts were "bad" for the capitol image of victors. They were all doomed from the start 😭

i fully believe the best way for them to punish haymitch was to make it so he couldn’t volunteer for peeta and had no choice but to watch his new family be taken again

The reapings were rigged all the time, but the 75th was completely and entirely rigged to get a mix of the tributes that would entice the Capitol and the tributes they wanted to get rid of.

Haymitchs name was pulled because Snow wanted Katniss and Peeta back in the arena and knew whoever got reaped, the other would volunteer. Not because of his involvement with the 50th game

The movie literally explained why he did it “even the strongest cannot overpower the capital” he basically saying even though the victors won the games that doesn’t make them invincible

I can see that with the other victors, but I idk about Haymitch. Snow kept Haymitch alive because death would be a relief. I feel like if they rigged it, they would have rigged it to hurt Haymitch, and both names would be Peeta. Losing his family after finally building a new one (or I guess returning to an old one) after 25 years would be a worse punishment than whatever happens in the arena. As mentor he also has to watch everyone he loves and everyone who helped him in 50 die. Plus Mags volunteered to save Annie, pull her name. But also maybe you’re right. Snows not the best strategist putting the SAME CREW that tried to start a rebellion in with a pair of people who are kickstarting a new rebellion

i'm convinced Annie's games were also a attempt to break the machine, like Haymitch. Idk if she was involved in the plan, but i think that's why she got reaped as well.

I think Snow made the 75th games previous victors specifically for Katniss, but he figured he might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone. if there's gonna be a rebellion might as well take out the victors who have already rebelled.

I wouldn’t say it was rigged the decision in itself to have the victors be reaped again was enough to send a message, you have to realize there were but so many living victors to pull from every district especially because careers mostly won so it just makes sense that they were pulled like finnick, Maggs, and Annie were the only ones from 4 so it makes sense it would be finnick and Annie to be pulled

Not just the 50th every single year that they tried to rebel. The games after Katniss’s dad died (Haymitch’s best friend) the area flooded and Annie won because she was the only one who could swim. And she is insane when they drew her name because they t her.
