@losttransmissions77: 🚨 THIS ONE HITS TOO CLOSE TO HOME. I live in Georgia. Seeing communities in my own state underwater—homes flooded, downtown streets turned into rivers, people needing boats to escape—makes this feel painfully close. On November 5, catastrophic flooding struck McCaysville, Georgia, and neighboring Copperhill, Tennessee, after intense overnight rainfall. ▪️ The Toccoa/Ocoee River reached a reported 18.05 feet, surpassing the previous record of 17.8 feet set in 1990. ▪️ McCaysville’s police chief reported water reaching rooftops in some areas and standing 6–7 feet deep downtown. ▪️ More than 30 water rescues were reported early in the emergency. ▪️ Rushing currents made it difficult for rescue boats to reach people. (atlantanewsfirst.com) ▪️ Copperhill issued evacuation orders for downtown and riverfront areas. Both bridges were closed, and city halls opened as shelters. (copperhill.gov) Imagine looking outside and realizing the road you need to escape on is already gone beneath the water. These are people’s homes. Their businesses. Their animals. Their entire lives. Officials warned that the rain stopping did NOT mean the danger was over. Floodwaters remained dangerous even as levels began to recede. Never drive or walk through flooded roads. (gpb.org) Thinking of everyone affected—and every responder working to bring people to safety. 🖤 📍 McCaysville, GA / Copperhill, TN 📅 November 5, 2026 SOURCES: Atlanta News First: https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2026/11/05/mccaysville-flooding-triggers-more-than-30-water-rescues-police-chief-says/ City of Copperhill emergency notices: https://copperhill.gov/city-hall/city-alerts-and-notices/ Georgia Public Broadcasting / AP: https://www.gpb.org/news/2026/11/05/heavy-rains-cause-flash-flooding-water-rescues-on-georgia-tennessee-border Are you in the affected area?
