@sameoldfuzzy: Decaying Society: Americans’ Trust in Government Falls to All-Time Low Americans’ trust in the Federal Government has fallen to an all-time low, according to a new Gallup poll. The pollster has been gauging the population’s trust in institutions since 1972, and 2026 has seen confidence fall to its lowest ever point. Only 33% of Americans have confidence in the executive branch of government – far lower than even during the Watergate Scandal of 1974, when 40% retained their trust. Trust in the judiciary and legislative branches have also fallen to all-time nadirs of 46% and 28% respectively. And less than one third of Americans express any confidence whatsoever in the federal government’s abilities to handle either domestic or international problems. Trust in society has been falling for decades in the United States, but the second Trump administration is turbocharging this process. MintPress investigates.
