@foxnews: “Violent offenders should be made to serve maximum penalties.” That’s the campaign promise from Republican Nino Mangione, the tough-on-crime first cousin of Luigi Mangione, who won a closely contested Baltimore County Council race. Nino defeated Democrat Shawn McIntosh in District 5, securing 48.7% of the vote to McIntosh’s 45.2%, according to reported results. His victory comes as Luigi awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to federal charges in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Luigi also faces a separate state murder case in New York. Nino previously said his family was “shocked and devastated” by Luigi’s arrest and refused to discuss the case during his campaign.
