The "you have to get all As" is so damaging too. The school I work in has more ADV sections than grade level sections and I had a girl crying over a 95 saying it's gonna tank her GPA like babe, get a grip

I’m curious about the first one as a fellow teacher. I think we can have a standard but not push it to the point of stress. I have students whose parents have adopted that rule a little too well and I see students actively give up on their potential when they could 100% be higher. Then senior year comes around and they’re stressed because they knew they could’ve gotten better opportunities if they tried harder

Heavy on the meals. It’s not that big of a deal to make something that they’ll eat. That doesn’t mean they’ll become a picky eater. There’s nothing wrong with letting you child be happy 😂

my parents definitely had expectations for grades that were different for each subject and each kid i have dyslexia so if i just passed a spelling test we were having a parade but in classes like math that i was strong in they had high expectations. it was also based on effort they could see did we turn everything in on time, did we actually study

My mom never cared about my grades as long as I wasn't failing but to me I needed all As except for math. 😂 If I have a C in math then that's okay.

As a high school teacher, I very much wish that I felt more comfortable taking mental health days, but I’ve had to use so many days on my son that I have like PTSD about going over.

My (now 22) year old son was listening as I watched this video and he commented on the dinner part. I told him that I pretty much made meals that he and his brother would like which is why I usually did not make 2 seperate meals. He never realized that.
