I am her. My son is 26 and I long to hear from him more often. I miss him. It’s a grief I was never prepared for & it sits in my chest every day. I know he’s busy, I know he has a whole life I don’t exist in. I just feel like a part of my soul is out there somewhere and I long to re-connect with it.

Boy moms experience living grief, living loss. Our boys grow up, create lives of their own, often times which don’t include us. While I don’t think it’s always intentional, we do tend to get overlooked. Genetically speaking, our sons dna remains in our bodies for decades after birth. It’s a sort of soul connection like no other. Us boy moms will always long to be near you. We can’t help it. Please don’t shame us for this. We were created to create and protect you no matter what. There is no expiration date for this soul tie. We really do love you like no other will.

I’ve had the distance myself from my 20 year-old son. He still lives here but he’s a lineman apprentice and he works away. Leave Sunday comes back Friday. I do all his laundry for him. I cook for him while he’s here. I clean his room. I clean up after him but during the week if I text, it just sits on delivered if I call he sends it to voicemail if he does answer he’s annoyed short answers hangs up on me so I just stopped calling. I’ve stopped texting. I can’t hurt myself anymore. I think it has a lot to do with I was a stay at home mom and now he’s making so much money He’s embarrassed of me. I’m heartbroken. We used to be best friends. I was as everything.

Thats all we want, even if its just a hello. I text my teen good morning buddy, I love you and he always responds back and thats all I need to get up and do life and I pray he never stops doing that. We moms love our babies and you have no idea what a little thing means the world. I am going through so much these days and that good morning back makes it better.
