A lot of veterans think that as long as they file a Supplemental Claim within one year of a denial, they’re guaranteed back pay to their original filing date. 🚨 That’s not always how it works! Here’s what you need to understand: ✅ Filing within the one-year window can preserve your original effective date through continuous pursuit. ✅ Multiple timely Supplemental Claims can potentially keep that date protected. ⚠️ But the VA also considers when entitlement to the benefit actually arose. ⚠️ Sometimes veterans receive an effective date based on a later medical examination or other evidence rather than their original Intent to File.
