Yes. I came out as bi late in life, after being Mormon. I had a ton of purity culture trauma and legitimately used to panic when I tried to have sex. Still a virgin at that time, a gold star told me she supposed I was "acceptable" since technically I was a gold star at that point too. The judgement was disgusting. Tbh I got over the panic and slept with a man not long after almost out of spite. I didn't want any gold star to say my trauma made me "acceptable" ever again.

i was in a program and a was talking to someone i had recently become friends with who i knew had a GF about how straight the program was. we both said “we wish there were more gay women here” just for community. i mentioned i was bi and she walked away. she came back to keep talking but the dynamic was different like i had no reason to want more gay people around/i didn’t count.

the only gold star hate i see is online warriors. most gold stars use it as a nod to their isolation in their childhood due to knowing their identity early. im a gold star and my gf isn’t and it literally affects nothing. and its not “male centered” to use the term because it’s reclaiming a negative connotation towards lesbians for ourselves.

my definition of a gold star lesbian is somebody who’s not attracted to men. I’ve slept with a ton of men because I’ve done it for work, but all of my serious ex-girlfriend’s were all by. I don’t know.. they were always the ones taking care of me. Weird shit. 🤣 Never made fun of them for it. I find it kind of funny lol

Whenever people start gold star-lesbianing and being pricks about it (usually online) I just tell them about my situation which is that I had one boyfriend in high school, except we never slept together and also now that boyfriend is a trans woman so technically did I ever really date a man? And anyway usually people just switch to debating that and it takes them away from whatever point they were originally trying to make. I don’t particularly gaf if people consider me gold star or not but I do find it amusing being in this middle ground
