It is fascinating how JRRT wrote evil as something that is beautiful and aluring at first but slowly rots you away. Melkor and Sauron are the best examples of this, beings of great beauty slowly rotting away in the darkness of evil.

I swear so much heart and soul was put into Tolkien's work, if aliens found it they would've thought it was some old Earth religion or grouped it with the likes of Greek and Norse mythology

Tolkien spent years in the westbof ireland, so much of his stories come from part in part of irish folklore. Pollnagollum Cave (from the Irish Poll na gColm, meaning "Hole of the Rock Doves") is a famous wild cave located on the slopes of Slieve Elva in The Burren, County Clare.Gollum is based on the cave.
