@artemiscollective: Who were the Trojans? Part 4: Daily Life and Material Culture 🏺 | Homer gave us Trojans who speak Greek, worship Greek gods, and live in a world that feels too familiar to the Greeks fighting them. But what the Trojans left behind for us gave us something entirely different. Troy VI was a wealthy western Anatolian city with terraced streets, freestanding houses, textile production, imported goods, horses, and pottery that was overwhelmingly Anatolian. That doesn’t mean Troy was isolated from Greece. Quite the opposite. Mycenaean pottery made its way across the Aegean, and Trojan potters occasionally copied Greek shapes using their own clay. Troy sat in the kind of place where people and objects were constantly moving back and forth. But Greek influence was just that: influence. Interestingly, horse remains start appearing at Troy during Troy VI, and there is enough evidence to suggest horses were being traded there. Centuries later, Homer repeatedly calls the Trojans “horse-taming.” Does that mean the Iliad preserved a genuine Bronze Age memory of Troy? Maybe. The more we excavate Troy, the less it looks like a Greek city with different names and the more it looks like what its archaeology would suggest: an Anatolian city sitting directly between the Aegean and Anatolian worlds. Anatolia is the cradle of western civilisation not Greece. Greeks stole all their civilisation and mythology from Anatolians including writing, philosophy, and even democracy was practiced by Lycians long before Athenians. The USA constitution is based on Lycian model

Luwian is one of the strongest candidates for the language spoken by at least some of the inhabitants of ancient Troy. Related to Hittite. Could "Luwian" or "Wilusian" be a cognate of "Illium" which is what the Greeks called them? That's my instinct. The Myceneans gave the Wilusa many Greek characteristics, and I think that their interaction with one another was much greater than we think. Could many Trojans speak Greek? The question is fascinating to me because Troy sat at a cultural crossroads between the Greek-speaking Aegean and the Anatolian civilizations of Asia Minor.

Loved your video! Have you heard of the Hittitology linguistic theory that the name Paris has native Anatolian origins? Hittitologists and historical linguists suggest that the Homeric character preserves a memory of a bilingual or culturally dual society! Because of this, Paris is often linked with the Luwian name Pari-zitis (𒉺𒊑𒍣𒋾𒅖), which breaks down as: •Pari-: A cognate with the Greek peri or Sanskrit pari, functioning as a prefix meaning "before," "forth," "first," or "foremost." •-zitis: The standard Luwian word for "man." This translates directly to "First Man," "Foremost Man," or "Leader of Men." This modern hypothesis perfectly mirrors his other Greek name, Alexandros, which means "Defender of Men", "Protector of Men" or "Repeller of Men." Both names end up sharing the exact same concept, they are high-status names meant to elevate the bearer, giving them a strong sense of identity, inheritance, and a higher political presence.

in middle Europe that time people believed in ,,Trzygłów'' - 'three heads', it was their main God, so probably original Troyans and Troy itself was somewhere between Baltic and North Sea. The story came to the Greece with invasion of sea people and was just adapted, but details suggest it happened in the north.

Troyians weren't Greeks. The Troyian war was a Pelasgian war between the tribes of the same family. God's which we call Greek today were pelagians this explains why Troyians spoke the same langauge, having the sma e gods and Costums. Dradansus the son of Zeus the founder of Troy, Zeus the Pelasgians god in mount Olympus which Achiles worshipped was a Pelasgian and Achiles claim Pelasgians origine.
