@briana_supardi: $3000 a MONTH for a single motel room?! $2000- $3500– That's how much a temporary DSS motel placement can cost taxpayers a month per room in Albany County —potentially more than it would cost to rent an apartment. So why is that happening? But that's not all. One woman who turned to DSS after losing her job and home says she was expected to contribute more than 80% of her unemployment income toward temporary shelter costs. That left her wondering how she was supposed to save up for an apartment and get out of homelessness — with both her and taxpayers footing the bill for a single motel room. The county says motel placements are a last resort when shelters are full, and state regulations require people with income to contribute toward shelter costs. Housing advocates also point to a shortage of affordable housing, making it difficult to move people into permanent homes. But with all this money being spent, is the system actually helping people get back on their feet? #CBS6Investigates #YouPaidForIt #TaxpayerDollars #Homelessness

It’s a terrible system that can hopefully be fixed one day but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. They move in to apartments and live how they were living in the hotels and they bring the roaches and mice from the hotels into the new apartments and now landlords are paying thousands in pest control bills rent goes up because landlords can’t pay there mortgage then there in eviction, its a vicious cycle I left quite a bit out but you get the point

every city every state every county is got plenty of housing they've got a whole bunch of abandoned houses and buildings but the city don't want to refurnish the buildings they want money so they can build new places and pocket a lot of the money it's nothing more than a scam

Because DSS puts these peoples in these motels and they destroy them and then you want the motel owners to put new mattresses and new carpets and new microwaves, they won’t let a family of five live in a two bedroom apartment, but they’ll let them live in a one room motel make that make sense

BEEF POTATO POCKETS MEAT FILLING 25 ml olive oil (4 tbsps) 400 g ground beef (14 ounces) 4 g paprika (1⅓ tsp) 3 g cayenne pepper (1 tsp) 2 g garlic powder (⅔ tsp) 75 g yellow onion (½ onion, finely chopped) 75 g red bell pepper (½ red bell pepper, diced) 5 g beef bouillon cube (or ½ tsp beef bouillon granules) 75 g tomato sauce (⅓ cup) DOUGH 500 g potatoes (450 g peeled, 1 lb) 1 large egg 5 g salt (⅚ tsp) 8 g chives, finely chopped (2¼ cups) 25 g grated mozzarella (¼ cup) 275 g all-purpose flour (2¼ cups) EXTRA cheese slices all-purpose flour, for dusting the work surface neutral oil, for frying Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, paprika, cayenne and garlic powder. Cook for 4 minutes, breaking up the meat as it browns. Stir in the onion and bell pepper. Crumble the bouillon cube over the skillet and cook for 5 minutes, stirring often. Add the tomato sauce and simmer for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let the filling cool completely. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Boil in plenty of unsalted water for 15 to 20 minutes, until fork-tender. Drain well. While the potatoes are still hot, mash them into a smooth purée with no lumps. Let cool. Add the egg, salt, chives, mozzarella and flour. Mix well, then knead into a soft, cohesive dough. Divide the dough into 15 equal pieces, about 2 ounces (55 g) each, and roll each into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a round about 5½ inches (14 cm) across. Place a half slice of cheese on one side of each round and top with a spoonful of filling. Fold the other half over and press the edges firmly to seal. Arrange the filled pockets on a sheet of parchment paper. Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-low to medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the pockets in batches until golden brown on both sides and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. #beef #cheese #tiktokfood #food
