to all the "in this economy brands can't afford..." the point is the misleading marketing. businesses are marketing this as a massive sale time of year but you will often get better sale prices outside of "black friday". No-one gives a shit if a company doesn't participate, it's companies offering the same or worse discounts then they do any other time of the year. it's also the companies that will increase their "was" price prior to a sale so it seems like you are getting a discount, when in fact you are most likely paying more in the sale than any other time of year.
