Word of caution - my husband went in for an endoscopy and they told him “you have heartburn” and he said “ no I don’t - well he has Barrett’s so will need to be checked on a reg. Basis so u can have heartburn and not feel it

interesting. I have a condition called hypercontractile esophagus, or jackhammer esophagus, and I also have a hiatal hernia from Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, so my esophagus is all messed up

Wow I have the same thing! Exact same thing. Same test. I have trouble swallowing. Food gets stuck. Did the test they found polyps and found out my esophagus is restricted that’s why i can’t swallow food..I have to eat soft foods..next week I go for a MRI for my throat and then I do a barium swallow… esophagus is narrrow.. Kim I hope you see this.

My Gastro made me get an upper endoscopy/biopsies as soon as she heard I had GERD. She said it should be the standard for anyone with excessive heart burn/indegestion. She also insisted on a colonoscopy because she says there’s a huge influx of people between 25 and 40 getting colon/stomach cancer. Everyone get your screenings!

My husband died of metastatic esophageal cancer at 45. He had ZERO risk factors for this cancer, but had silent acid reflux. We had no idea until he started having trouble swallowing, and then it was stage 3B. It’s a horrible cancer. I don’t wish it on anyone.
