@angelic_blessed: On September 11, 2001, Brooklyn firefighter Gary Box, 35, was on his way to the World Trade Center when his fire truck became stuck in traffic inside the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. He and his fellow firefighters got out and hurried toward the towers on foot. Gary was one of 12 men from his firehouse who d*ed that day, and his body was never recovered. Stuck in the same tunnel was Erik Troelsen, a Danish man on his way to a meeting, who took photos as the firefighters went past the stalled cars. “The guys started walking briskly past us,” he later said. “Gary Box was one of the guys.” Years later, after his sister’s visit to a 9/11 tribute center sparked a search through photo archives, Gary’s family found the image. “I wish everybody could get what I got,” his father, Judson, said.
