remember if u cant afford ac and cannot clean the cage weekly and spot clean daily and afford custom wood cage equipment at least new wood ledges yearly and paying the exotic veterinary fees(200$ just alone for appt) then please dont get one, and remember they can live up to 30 years based of genetics and care, so if u plan on university dorms or moving and or unstable financial support please dont, statistically chinchillas get rehomed within 3years because people lack the thought to think of their potential future changes including having children or having to move into a home that doesnt allow animals, and in the end its the animals who get hurt because of peoples lack of realistic expectations of having a high maintenance high cost animal.

Chins are a huge commitment!!! 20 years. Lots of poop. And they’re not as cuddly as they look. You also need a huge cage.
