💔 We come from families where silence replaced apologies, and pretending nothing had happened was the way to reconcile. And that’s how we learnt to stay quiet about what hurt us. We weren’t taught to apologise. We were taught to avoid conflict, pretend nothing had happened, serve food, put on a film and never speak about it again. We learnt that forgiveness meant staying silent, that healing meant forgetting, and that loving someone meant not making them uncomfortable with what we felt. That’s why, as adults, we struggle to talk about what hurts. We struggle to say, “What happened hurt me,” “I need you to acknowledge it,” or “It still hurts.” And meanwhile, our children are learning from us. They learn to speak up or stay silent, to repair or to carry the burden, to swallow what hurts or put it into words. When we become parents, we can repeat that same pattern: we stay silent when we hurt someone, avoid the conversation when our children express their pain, and expect them to get over it without ever addressing what happened. But this isn’t about reliving the past. It’s about not continuing to pass it down. It’s about daring to name what hurt us and teaching our children that mistakes can be acknowledged and wounds can be repaired. Because if we never learn to say, “I was wrong,” our children may grow up believing that silence is the only way to bring a conflict to an end. And that, too, is an inheritance. ✨ Healing isn’t about staying silent. Healing is learning to say what was never said, even when your voice shakes and even when no one in your family has ever done it before. 🧡 If you want to recognise the family patterns you keep repeating and begin transforming these dynamics, go to the link in my bio to get information about my Breaking Patterns guide. #FamilyConstellations #FamilyPatterns #ChildhoodWounds #EmotionalHealing #breakingpatterns
