The 86-year-old singer spoke to the crowd at a Los Angeles concert on Wednesday, Nov. 4. He said he thought he had reached the end. “Oh well, this is it,” he told the audience, according to the New York Post and the BBC. “You’ve had a wonderful life, Tommy, but it’s over right now.” Jones said he was hospitalized for a week. He praised the doctors at UCLA, saying, “They really did a wonderful job. So I’m here.” The illness forced him to postpone two shows. He was set to play Los Angeles on Oct. 26. Just hours before showtime, he announced he had a bad case of the flu. The San Diego show was pushed to Nov. 3. Jones said he pushed through because he wanted to get back to performing. “This is where I belong. I can’t live without this, believe me,” he said. He is next scheduled to play Highland, California, on Friday, Nov. 6. His year has also had big moments. Cate McHugh, the contestant he coached, won season 14 of The Voice UK on Oct. 31.
