@mothershipsg: so ready to munch on panipuri yum 🤤 Large crowds and heavy traffic are expected in Little India during the Deepavali celebrations, especially on Nov. 7, the eve of Deepavali. The police have advised members of the public to keep their belongings safe, while motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid heavy traffic along Serangoon Road. Several pedestrian crossings may also be affected, with the crossing at Birch Road, in front of Anguilla Mosque, closed from 4pm on Nov. 7 to 4am on Nov. 8. Directional signs will be placed at affected crossings to guide pedestrians to alternative routes. Public drinking will also be prohibited in Little India from 10:30pm on Nov. 6 to 7am on Nov. 10. Lastly, the police reminded the public that the illegal discharge of fireworks and misuse of sparklers are offences. For Deepavali, it's reasonable that the streets in Little India be closed for at least two weeks, given that alternative routes exist across Singapore. If road closures can be arranged for the F1 Grand Prix, i would expect similar consideration for Deepavali as well. Just a basic consideration 🦋
